Florida Man Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Cyberstalking Two Victims

Jorge Ibarra, 31, from Palm Beach County, Florida, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for cyberstalking two people over nearly three years. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks in a federal court in Miami.

Ibarra pleaded guilty earlier this year to two counts of cyberstalking, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2261A(2)(A). There was no written plea agreement in the case.

According to court records, Ibarra began targeting his first victim on January 31, 2022, and continued until November 11, 2024. He used electronic communication systems and services across state lines to harass and intimidate the victim. His repeated threats caused the victim to fear for their life and safety.

He began targeting a second victim on March 4, 2023. That campaign lasted until October 30, 2024. Like the first case, Ibarra sent threatening and persistent messages designed to cause fear and emotional distress.

Ibarra was formally indicted in December 2024 and pleaded guilty on February 19, 2025, during a court hearing in West Palm Beach.

The FBI’s Palm Beach Resident Agency investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Dispoto led the prosecution. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne for the Southern District of Florida and acting FBI Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles.

Authorities reminded the public that using electronic communication to threaten or intimidate others is a serious federal crime.
