Kaushambi Man Booked for Uploading Child Pornography on Facebook, Tip-Off from MHA's Cyber Unit

In a major breakthrough in the fight against online child exploitation, a 30-year-old man from Kaushambi has been booked by the cyber-crime police station for allegedly uploading and distributing child pornographic content on Facebook. The case came to light following a tip-off from the National Cyber Crime Monitoring Centre (NCMEC), an arm of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Kaushambi) Abhishek Singh, the accused has been identified as Abhaye Dwivedi, a resident of the Kasia Nadirganj (Sandipanghat) area. He worked as a watchman and has been charged under Section 67(B) of the Information Technology Act, which deals with the publication and transmission of sexually explicit material involving children.

"A detailed investigation is currently underway. Multiple raids are being carried out to apprehend the accused," DSP Singh confirmed.

He further explained that the tip-off was received last month through the MHA's cybercrime reporting portal, which is linked to NCMEC. The portal flagged suspicious activity related to the distribution and uploading of child pornography, triggering a preliminary investigation.

“This is the first time a child pornography case has been reported in Kaushambi. Once the accused is arrested, we expect to gather vital information about individuals who may have purchased these videos, including their identities and countries of origin,” DSP Singh added.

Authorities are treating this as a high-priority case, given the serious nature of the crime and its broader implications. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious online activity through the official cybercrime portal at cybercrime.gov.in.
