With internet and smartphone usage skyrocketing across the country, incidents of online fraud have surged. Airtel’s new system is a significant step forward in combating these threats by offering automated real-time protection on platforms such as OTT apps, WhatsApp, emails, web browsers, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and SMS.
Whenever an Airtel user tries to access a flagged website or harmful link, they are redirected to a warning page that explains the risk — ensuring transparency and user awareness. This proactive approach helps in stopping scams before they can cause any damage.
Importantly, this fraud protection feature is being rolled out automatically and free of cost to all Airtel mobile and broadband customers. Users don’t need to install any software or configure any settings, making it a seamless safety net for millions.
Airtel’s multi-layered threat detection system utilizes domain filtering, real-time link blocking, and artificial intelligence to adapt to constantly evolving scam techniques. The AI engine ensures the system remains current with emerging cybercrime trends.
Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating:
“In recent years, we’ve seen numerous cases where customers have unknowingly fallen prey to cyber scams. Our engineers created this fraud detection solution to ensure our users are fully protected while browsing the internet.”
With this AI-powered innovation, Airtel aims to create a safer digital ecosystem and empower its users to browse the internet without fear.
