According to police, the officer was tricked by a fraudulent trading company named Spreadex Global Ltd. The company was promoted on the messaging app Telegram by an account posing as "Priya Bajaj."
From February to April this year, the cybercriminals convinced the officer to transfer money in multiple transactions, promising high returns through stock market investments.
After receiving the complaint, the cybercrime unit launched an investigation. Using technical analysis, bank transaction tracking, and ATM camera footage, police were able to trace and arrest the accused.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a larger cyber fraud network. They used fake Telegram profiles to attract people with promises of quick profits, especially through cryptocurrency investments using USDT (Tether).
Police have warned the public to be careful of online investment offers and report any suspicious activity. They emphasized that people should verify the authenticity of such schemes before investing their money.
